There is an endless supply of companies out there that will do this for you charging $500, $1000 or more but you can do it for free and get the same results. Follow my easy 3 steps below to get started improving YOUR credit!
1. Know Your Current Situation
The first thing you will want to do is know where you currently stand with your credit situation. There are several free website and apps out there, some come with hidden fees. I recommend that you start with Credit Sesame. Not only is it free (with no hidden costs) they also have helpful hints on getting you started with improving your credit.

Check your Credit Reports
The next thing you will want to do is check your credit reports. Again, there are various sites on the internet where you can do this, but I would go with AnnualCreditReport.com. Annual Credit Report is completely free and its where you can get your FREE yearly credit report (that you are entitled to by federal law)
2. Verify & Dispute
Dispute, dispute, dispute. Any and all inaccuracies on your credit report big or small, dispute them. Here is a sample letter to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report.
By law credit bureaus are required to make sure the information contained in your credit report is accurate. If you dispute
something they do have to investigate and make sure its real. Usually what happens is the credit reporting company will send over a letter to your creditor asking them to verify, those companies then have 30 days to reply, if they don’t the item will come off of your credit.
3. Follow Credit Sesame’s Recommendations
Credit Sesame (its free) has a section at the top of their site called “My Recommendations” this is a great place to get some tips on improving your credit. This section will have custom tips depending on your credit situation. Most of the time the things they will recommend should be pretty easy to implement.
