The very first rule of entering Social Media Giveaways may seem obvious, but you would not believe the number of people who skip it. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! If a post requires you to like, share and comment or even tag friends you must do all of those things to complete your entry.  When you are required to share the post  make sure it is set to public so the host of the giveaway can see you have shared their post publicly to your timeline and confirm the entry.

Some giveaways will ask that you tag friends in the comments, this can be part of the entry or a bonus entry but in either case it is best to tag others that will participate in the giveaway. If you are a member of our Freebies, Sweeps & Instant Win Games group, we have a post in that group for finding tagging buddies!

Make a comment that will get you noticed, this is especially helpful on the Facebook Giveaways. Throw in a few emojis, maybe even add a picture that pertains to the giveaway. For instance if the host page for the giveaway has to do with pets, post a photo if your pet if it fits in with the giveaway. Anything to get an edge in!

Also make sure you are putting a bit of thought into comments for entries. A lot of people will just enter with something like “me please” try to be a bit more original. It shouldn’t be some sorrow story (you’d be surprised how many of those we see) but something fun that has to do with the host or the giveaway.

TIP: If you are entering a giveaway for a product you have never tried, be honest about it. Some readers have reported that the hosts will offer them samples & coupons to try out their stuff!

Giveaways are posted all throughout the day on social media so it’s best to set yourself up with a routine that’s right for you so you don’t miss out on too many, make sure you bookmark our giveaway list and keep refreshing as we update multiple times a day with new giveaways for you to enter.

One thing to keep an eye on to with the social media giveaways, is the number of likes / comments / etc. This can give you an idea of how many people have entered a giveaway. For instance if just 25 or so people have commented and that is how you enter, then you know that there are just 25 entries…. that means your odds are good!

As with all giveaways the ones with the best odds are going to be the ones with low entries and multiple prizes. Some giveaways you can never really tell how many entries there are, but that isn’t the case with social media giveaways, you can almost always get an idea of how popular a giveaway is!

MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE HOST ACCOUNT! Lots of people are commenting on posts or retweeting, but they aren’t actually following the company that is hosting the giveaway. Make sure you give them a follow or a LIKE! The reason companies do giveaways is because they use them for marketing, make sure you give them what they are looking for!

Also, when a company asks you to SHARE, make sure that you share that post publicly so that it counts. You can change the setting for each post you do on Facebook, so make sure those share ones are set to public!

How do I win? MAKE SURE YOU ENTER!! You cannot enter if you do not win. The more giveaways that you are entering the better your chances are going to be at getting some prizes!

When is the best time to enter? If you have the time I would suggest twice a day hit our Social Media Giveaway List. Around noon to see ones that may end in evening, then at night. Lots of people go through the list on their phones while winding down and get their entries in!

How do I know if giveaway is legit? Well one thing that’s good about our list is that we have already put the time and effort checking that info and things like eligibility and making sure they ship prizes etc..  Some post a disclosure in their giveaway post on FB or will give a link to the rules, but almost ALL post without an entry form will NOT have a rules box for you to check. If you are in doubt you can always message the host and ask if they have a list of rules..

If we get reports of prizes not being delivered for some reason, we remove that company from our list and do not post their giveaways in the future. We try to keep the list to companies that follow through.

If you are entering giveaways that you find but we don’t post, there are a few things that you can check for. I usually try to look for a few clues, for the social media ones, I check out the page and see how long they have been active on social media. Most will have some sort of history on their page.

Trying to think about it from perspective of the company too, we always see those ones going around where some airlines is giving away tons of tickets. That just doesn’t happen, and usually those will have like an extra dash in the social profile or just be off. Checking the history of a page of profile giving stuff away can go a long way.

Do I have to pay for shipping on prizes I win? NO! If you ever win something on our list and they ask for a shipping fee, please report it to us so that we can remove that company from our listings. DO NOT PAY SHIPPING ON PRIZES! Shipping should always be free on wins and freebies!

How do you tell which ones are real and which ones are just collecting data? The nice thing about Social Media Giveaways is that most of them won’t have a link to collect that information, they are just where you like a page, like a post and leave a comment (instructions are usually a variation of those 3 things).

Some pages do pop up with fake giveaways to try to boost their counts, but checking out a pages previous posts can give you some history. A page that just started out and is giving away crazy things is 9 times out of 10 not going to be legit.

Do you need to have Twitter and Instagram? There are tons of giveaways just on Facebook, so you don’t have to do those others, but there are some great giveaways on there, especially Instagram that are worth entering. I have seen tons of Instagram giveaways end with less than 50 entries on them (that means the odds are pretty good).

How are you notified if you win something? It can vary on social media. Sometimes you are tagged, sometimes a private message or sometimes you will need to check back. This is where good tagging buddies can come in, they can help you keep an eye out for wins that you may miss.

Also if you do win a prize be PATIENT!! Allow the 6-8 weeks standard time frame in most cases. Remember we want to win prizes and in order to do that we need theses pages to keep wanting to give stuff away. We set out on a mission to find companies that would send us FREE coupons just for calling and ask. We took a weekend, called about 75 companies and then we watched the next few weeks as our mailbox literally filled with all sorts of coupons for companies.

If you are going to do this, a few things to note. First, don’t be limited to just the companies that send us something. Call your favorite companies and ask them for free coupons, samples etc and you will be completely surprised at what you could get.

Second, it doesn’t take a complaint to get any of this. We called and said we loved the company asked if they had any coupons they could send us and it was really as easy as that. Some of the coupons were $ off and some were for completely free products which is completely awesome!

If you have any companies that send you free coupons for CALLING and asking, leave a comment or post a photo and tag us on social media, we will add them to the list.

The first part of the list is going to be my 7 favorites that I got in the mail. The second part is going to be a continuation of the list. 7 Free Things to do in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa Oklahoma is the second largest city in the state of Oklahoma and has a rich history in oil. Located on the old Route 66 the city provides activities for all ages and some great quirky roadside attractions that we found.

1. The Blue Whale of Catoosa Oklahoma

2600 Rte 66, Catoosa, OK 74015

While not technically inside Tulsa, it’s close enough to the city where you can easily make the short trip out there and it was one of our favorite things that we got to visit while in Tulsa. This iconic landmark is quickly rising in prominence as it is being used for the set of several commercials (we recently spotted it in a Mercedes-Benz Commercial) and was used as one of the locations to launch Snapchat Spectacles. The Blue Whale is a great roadside attraction and has brought joy to individuals, families and children for decades.

Facts about the Blue Whale of Catoosa Oklahoma

• Hugh Davis built the Blue Whale as a surprise anniversary gift for his wife Zelta who collected whale figurines
• The whale is 80 feet long and stands at 15 feet tall. You can climb inside of the body and up on top of the tail
• Originally opened in 1972 the Blue Whale closed in 1988 and fell into disrepair until about 1997 when the landmark was refurbished and reopened.

While visiting the Blue Whale make sure to stop in the gift shop if it is open. There are tons of photo albums with vintage photos from the heyday of the Blue Whale of Catoosa. In addition you can purchase souvenirs such as magnets, postcards and paintings!

If you are road tripping through, this is a great place to stop for a picnic. Several picnic tables are available and there are restrooms on site!

2. The Golden Driller Statue

The Golden Driller Statue is located at the Tulsa Expo Center and serves at the Official State Monument of Oklahoma! During the fair the Golden Driller serves as a landmark for visitors and locals alike and it’s a pretty common meeting spot at the fair.

Facts about the Golden Driller Statue

• The Golden Driller is the 6th tallest statue in the United States standing 75 feet tall and weighting 43,500 pounds.
• Originally built in 1952 the Golden Driller became the Official State Monument of Oklahoma in 1979.
• The Oil Derrick that the Golden Driller stands next to is an actual oil derrick from Seminole, Oklahoma.

Near the Golden Driller Statue there is a snow cone stand so if passing though it would be a great place to stop for a snack and photos. The Golden Driller does provide an excellent opportunity for Instagram photos!

3. The Center of the Universe in Tulsa, OK

The Center of the Universe is an acoustical anomaly that is located in Downtown Tulsa. I have seen one other one of these (in Portland Oregon) and these are always super neat and I love checking them out when I hear about them.

Basically how these work is that there is a center point in them where you stand, once you stand there and talk whatever you say will echo back to you but no one outside of the circle will be able to hear the echo. Super neat, freaky type thing that kids would likely enjoy.

Facts about the Center of the Universe

• The Center of the Universe in Tulsa attracts nearly 10,000 visitors each year. 
• The Artificial Cloud that soars 70+ feet above the Center of the Universe was created by an artist in 1991 who basically said that people would look up more at a rusting steel cloud than the real thing.
• The nearby Bank of Oklahoma is the tallest building in Tulsa, and if you notice that it looks similar to the World Trade Center buildings, that is because those buildings served as the inspiration.

4. Free Downtown Tulsa Self Guided Walking Tour

If you get a chance to do this one don’t pass it up! When heading into Tulsa I had no idea about this activity but the nice gentleman at the Visitors Center suggested it and I was glad to take him up on it!

For a little history, Tulsa had a oil boom back starting in the 1920’s that created enormous wealth. This coincided with the Art Deco period, so basically the oil boom and the art deco period collided and the result is some stunning architecture in the downtown area. You could take as little or as much time as you wanted on this self guided tour that you can find linked here.

I’d suggest not just walking around and observing the outside of the buildings, but take a look inside as well. There are some stunning lobbies in these buildings!

5. The Cave House of Tulsa

The Tulsa Cave house is the epitome of a Tulsa quirky roadside attraction. Owned by Linda Collier this house was originally the home of a chicken restaurant with a cave in the back that served as a speakeasy during prohibition.

Its free to drive by and you can always take pictures. I opted for the tour which is currently priced at $10 for adults and $5 for children (I know, not free, but worth it) and was so glad that I sprung for the tour of the house.

When I signed up for the tour I didn’t read any reviews so I was thinking that we would get there and be learning about the date the house was built, the architect etc. To my surprise what we ended up with was a tour by the owner Linda who told all the stories of this Tulsa Landmark as good as any storyteller possibly could.

We quickly realized that the house embodies Linda and there was no one more perfect to own this house. After leaving The Cave House in Tulsa, I couldn’t help but feel that I had just met a Tulsa Legend. If you get a chance, do the tour. You will not be disappointed.

6. Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area

Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness area is located about 7 miles from downtown Tulsa and offers around 300 acres of undeveloped land. Whether you are visiting the city or are a local, you will find Turkey Mountain is a great place to escape the city and get some fresh air.

Turkey Mountain features both paved and unpaved trails. Some are marked and some are not. This area attracts families as well as athletes and there are trails for all different skill levels. From short paved trails to steep unpaved natural trails this area has it all.

If you do opt to venture out to Turkey Mountain, note that you will want to take plenty of water and pay mind to any weather and or heat advisories. I found this to be a neat area but there was a heat advisory so I didn’t get a chance to spend near as much time there as I wanted (it was scorching out, yall lol).

7. Route 66 Historical Village

3770 Southwest Boulevard, Tulsa Oklahoma

Located on Route 66, the Route 66 Historical Village was not on my radar when I arrived in Tulsa. I just happened to drive past it and after seeing the massive trains, I had to stop for some photos.. I did some more digging on this area, and well, now here it is!

This is a great family friendly roadside attraction that train obsessed children will absolutely love. It is still being developed out to its full final form, but you can stop by now and still have a grand time and get some great pictures.

Current Attractions at the Route 66 Historical Village

• Frisco 4500 Meteor Train – This massive train has one of the coolest paint jobs I have seen on a train. Originally built in 1942 this steam engine carried passengers from 1942 to 1947 before retiring in 1950. 
• Centennial Oil Derrick – The Route 66 Historical Village is home to the tallest oil derrick in North America. It stands 154 feet tall and makes an amazing backdrop to the Meteor Steam Engine!
• Frisco 1157 Caboose – This one was awesome in my book. Since I was a child I have been obsessed with the caboose of a train and this was my first time to ever get to be on one. Again, for the train obsessed child, this place is a dream land!

So that was some of the things I found that were completely free to do in Tulsa Oklahoma. It was a great time seeing all of those sights and if you are looking for some things to do in Tulsa, hopefully this list will help you out or get you started.
